Back to school....

Well almost! I applied for a temporary position at the University of Montana book store. It is just before the RUSH for them as students gear up for the next semester of school. The book store gets a rush of students for a 2 to 4 week period and so they hire several more staff members to cover some long lines of customers and long hours of operation. I applied online one day, interviewed 2 days later and hired on the spot. This book store is owned by the faculty and students of the U of M, and is a non-profit entity. This also is the 2nd lowest in cost of books to the students in the nation, only surpassed as the best deal for students by another Montana based institution, the Montana State University in Bozeman! That is quite a record for a learning institution. I am pleased with the organization of this enterprise as they actually have a great training session and orientation for all the new folks. A lot of emphasis on 'feelings' and creating a rapport with your customer, or 'partner' as they like to refer to the students that come into the store. There are several places for students to by their class books online and others.
I plan on enjoying this time at the University, and with a little luck and networking I may find something else beyond this short time position.
Geri and I also committed to join a group from the Senior Center here in Missoula on an Alaska trip in September aboard the Norwegian Pearl out of Seattle. We are looking forward to that one, for sure! Got a lot of research on what to do, where to go and what to see on this adventure.
We have had a relatively mild winter. Burning a fair amount of wood in our little wood stove.
All for now!
